The Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, a popular hiking trail run by the National Park Service, parallels the river in this area.  The wood plank once served as a foot bridge over the water.

Runners compete in the Old Pueblo 50 Mile Endurance Run on March 3, 2012, in the Santa Rita Mountains in Sonoita, Arizona, USA.  The race included parts of the Arizona National Scenic Trail and the Coronado National Forest.
